Whom we’re looking for

We are seeking writers who have fascinating life stories to share, who have a witty and entertaining style of writing, and who believe in the importance of communication between people of all shapes and sizes. We want real people, with real experiences and real stories.

How we write

Many of our articles are refined in our online writer’s workshop, a private forum for Musings authors to collaborate and offer mutual feedback. If you have great stories, but aren’t the most experienced writer, then our workshop is for you! On the flip side, if you’re a great writer, but are short on story ideas, then we can help you, too. If you’re a great writer and you have great stories… well, you may already be a professional, but we’d still love to have you in our workshop. Perhaps you’ll be willing to help the other writers develop their skills, as you continue to refine your own!

What to write about

If you are wondering what we’d like you to write about, the answer is… anything you want! Musings has only two rules:

1. Every article should have a lesson to be learned (humor articles being the exception).

2. No insults or blanket bashing of a gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or any other type of group.

How often to contribute

Post articles as often as you wish. If you want to contribute regularly, great! If you only have one or two ideas, please share whatever you have (or want) to share. Or, if you already have your own blog, and you would just like to cross-post articles that fit the spirit of this site, that works, too. No matter your contributions, we’d love for you to become a member of our community! And, don’t worry, you retain ownership of everything you write on this site.

What’s in it for you

In its first year of existence, Musings generated over 100,000 hits, and we continue to grow steadily. In the first half of 2012 alone, we had over 300,000 visitors from nearly 200 different countries!

We’re not a commercial or revenue-generating site, so we don’t offer financial compensation for your submissions (the few ads we have help defray the costs of maintaining the site). Instead, what we offer you is 1) a group of amateur and semi-professional writers who will gladly help you develop your writing skills, 2) a place to showcase your writing, and 3) a growing and loyal fan base who will eagerly read it!

And since you retain ownership of everything you write on the site, you are, of course, welcome to sell your articles to a commercial publication should the opportunity arise.
